Eating for Performance Fuelling Your Workouts

Eating for performance is important when it comes to fuelling your workouts and getting the best results. Eating for performance means eating foods that provide your body with the energy and nutrients it needs to perform at its best. This includes eating a balanced diet of whole grains, fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, healthy fats, and plenty of fluids. It also means timing your meals and snacks around your workouts so that your body has the fuel it needs to work efficiently. Here are some tips for eating for performance:

  1. Eat Balanced Meals: Eating meals that are balanced in carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats will provide your body with the nutrients it needs to stay energized and perform at its best.
  2. Fuel Before and After Your Workouts: Eating a meal or snack before and after your workouts will give your body the energy it needs to work hard and recover quickly. Choose nutrient-dense options like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains to give your body the nutrients it needs. The optimal time to eat before a workout will depend on the type of workout, the intensity of the workout, and your individual needs. Generally speaking, it’s best to eat something about an hour before your workout to give your body time to digest the food and provide your body with the energy it needs. Some good pre-workout snacks include a banana with nut butter, a yogurt and fruit smoothie, or a protein bar or oats.
  3. Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water throughout the day will help you stay hydrated and perform at your best. Make sure to bring a water bottle with you to all of your workouts.
